School Council

The Ysgol Cefn Meiriadog School Council is made up of 13 members.

Oliver is the Chairperson, Ezra is the Vice Chair and Harper is our Criw Cymraeg representative.

We are supported by Mrs Martin.

The School Council meet at least half termly with Mrs Martin to discuss different aspects of school life.

We have representatives from every class on the School Council to make sure we have lots of ideas and opinions from all the children in the school. We also have a member of the Criw Cymraeg on the School Council to ensure that both groups work together.

HOW DO WE APPOINT SCHOOL COUNCILLORS?

  • Children from Year 1 to Year 6 who want to be School Councillors put themselves forward.
  • They then prepare a persuasive speech and present it to the class.
  • The class votes for the best speech and the children are then elected.
  • Each Councillor gets a great badge to wear.

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL COUNCIL?

  • The School Council is a group of children who attend meetings and discuss how to make the school better. They are good role models for the children at Ysgol Cefn Meiriadog.
  • We have class representatives from Year 1 – Year 6.
  • Year 6 Councillors have special jobs – Chair, Vice Chair and Criw Cymraeg representative.
  • The Secretary writes up the minutes of the meetings and makes sure everyone knows when the meetings are.
  • The Chair and Vice Chair runs meetings, leads discussions and makes sure all Councillors are involved.
  • The Treasurer looks after the School Council’s money and writes reports on what the School Council spends.

WHAT WE DO?

  • Class representatives listen to their classes and write their ideas down to discuss them at the meetings.
  • Work with Mrs Martin to help make our school a better place for everyone.
  • Support local and national charities.
